Armenia from a Bird’s-Eye View
Everyone is afraid of something. Many people are afraid of dogs or insects, many of clowns or darkness, and I have received a big package of fears from life as a gift 🙂 Insects, darkness, heights, spiders, and if I think about it for longer, this list could become endless.
It is true that I challenged my fears a long time ago; some of them have been overcome and disappeared quickly, while I am still fighting against others. For example, I am afraid to approach the edge of a high-rise building, but that does not stop me from climbing to a height of one thousand meters. That was the reason why this time I decided to fly with a paraglider.
You will probably agree that people’s interest in flying never fades. That is perhaps why, when we see an airplane or helicopter in the sky, we follow it with our eyes until only an invisible white line remains in the air.
Flying with a paraglider is completely different from flying in an airplane. A number of questions were on my mind: what does a person feel during a flight? How do they see the landscape from above? So, I decided to experience the incredible feeling of flying and share it with you.

Together with Armen Sargsyan, the founder of Sky Club, we head to Yegvard Airport. On the way, a view of Mount Ara opens before us. The sky is clear and bright, which means the flight is going to happen.
It was not going to last long — only 20 minutes. Before the flight, my anxiety rose again. Fear found a warm corner inside me, panic started growing stronger, I felt heaviness in my chest, and my hands began to tremble.
During takeoff, I screamed so loudly that I suppose all the birds within a one-kilometer radius fell from the sky in fear, while Armen went deaf. 🙂
A few seconds later, we found ourselves at an altitude of 1000 meters. The panic disappeared from the third minute of the flight.
From a completely unfamiliar perspective, an indescribable, beautiful, and unique view opened before me.

It is difficult for me to share all my feelings because they are very different for every person who flies. I can say that I lost my sense of time in the sky. I realized that a paraglider pilot is like a bird in the sky.
And just like everything else, the sky has its own character. Most of the time it is very kind and gentle, but careless and reckless behavior can change a lot. And if you “win the heart of the sky,” it will reward you with countless unforgettable moments of joy.
At an altitude of 1000 meters, we were calmly gliding through the air. I enjoyed every piece of the landscape opening before me, and finally, I was breathing freedom.
I discover Armenia in all its beauty almost every day, but I never imagined that it could be even more beautiful from a bird’s eye view.
Armen’s flying skills were astonishing:
— With a paraglider, you have to fly like a bird — without flapping your wings, searching for warm air currents and rising with their help, — he shares.
After making several turns in the sky, he tilted the position of the wings, slowing down the paraglider’s movement, and we appeared above the road; we were flying toward the cars…
There are so many impressions — new, crazy, but real. No matter how much I tell you, to truly understand me, you simply have to try flying once.
By the way, Sky Club offers flights with two types of paragliders: powered and non-powered. They organize flights over Lake Sevan, Aparan, Tatev, Haghartsin Monastery, Garni, and Yenokavan — in places across Armenia where there are mountains and beautiful landscapes.
