This journey was unlike any of my previous adventures. Once again, I found myself in the magnificent land of Syunik, but this time in a completely different way. Racing through rugged mountain trails in a 4×4, catching warm currents of air, and taking in the breathtaking, extraordinary landscapes of Tatev—believe me, unforgettable impressions are guaranteed.

If you’ve ever looked down from the cabins of the TaTever Ropeway, you’ve probably noticed the abandoned and mysterious places scattered far below. One of them is Old Halidzor, and now is the perfect time to discover it up close
At the beginning of the 10th century, Princess Hamazaspuhi donated the village to Tatev Monastery, and it remained monastery property until the 19th century. Old Halidzor is another ghost village, home to the ruins of a chapel with its altar, 10th-century Armenian cross-stones (khachkars), and the Church of St. Minas, built in 1611. Here, the rocky cliffs seem to merge seamlessly with the stone houses, while the name Halidzor is believed to originate from the ancient settlements of Hale and Halis in the historic district of Haband.
